need advice to get work with my vx-1000 Can't Post

hi gang, i am new to the forum, but have owned my vx-1000 for about a year. i have used it to shoot spec material for practice, but now want to make some money with my investment. i am willing to take any work offered, weddings, bar-mitzvahs, you name it. i just wanted your advice as to how i can go about finding this sort of work. does putting flyers in wedding boutiques and churches help? do i need to be able to edit the footage? all of your replies are appreciated.
thanks!
dylan
