sony repair prices!!! Can't Post

I have a VX2000 with a defective on/off switch. Sony repair has a minimum charge of almost $500.00 to repair this camera. I also just sent in a DSR 30 DVCAM deck that had a defective firewire in/out connector. Sony repair wants almost $900.00 to repair it!! Is it me or do these prices seem a bit high? Has anyone else had experiences like this with Sony repair? Is there an alternative to using Sony repair that has more realistic pricing? Any comments appreciated. Thanks....

Check out Macie Video Service at http://www.macievideo.com/index.htm. Fast, reliable, reasonable.

I got a problem with my roller pin inside the recording head mechanism and i did some head allignment and it costs me AU$90 labour (unlimited time) and AU$175 for part... And it is the authorised Sony repair centre... However as i checked through other Sony authorised repair centre, they wanna charge me AU$70 est fee and $70/hour rate... other charges AU$77...so in other words...Sony never carry anymore repair, instead they ask some specialists to do it...and unfortunately the charge is different from one centre to another...My suggestion is, go check out for other Sony service centre...somewhere else nearby...
Somehow if you can only find one service centre in your location and the rest located 10000miles away, you will probably need to prepare your wallet...
