: i just learned that the 2000 will not playback effects that were not prerecorded through the firewire. I can not go with movie mode black white etc unless it was recorded that way. I just sold my analog to digital converter thinking i no longer needed it. i am new to video, and I will be getting adobe premiere 6 in a week or so, and will adobe be able to give me all of the effects that i can no longer get from playback on the 2000, or do

Adobe Premiere will do far more effects than the few available in the VX2000, and is vastly more flexible as well. The only drawback is that they are rendered, so they take a little time, but with a modern computer system it isn't too unreasonable.
NLE effects are so powerful that I think very few people use the VX2k in-camera effects.
