vx2100 ilink port doesn't work	Can't Post

I just got a vx2100. The problem is the cam doesn't recognize when I've connected an ilink cable to it(it should say DVIN on the lcd).
I know the cable's good because I have another camera (also a sony but cheap d8) which works fine.
Anyone else have this problem?
I've already started fishing for supercheap minidv cameras to use as a vtr replacement. I think that'll be the cheapest solution.
Any ideas?

It's a common problem, Sony has issued bulletins on it. Most likely your firewire chip is damaged and will need replacing. Most likley caused by plugging the six pin cable upside down on you computer. It's really easy to do.
