what is the best editing system for a newbie?	Can't Post

I am new to DV and want to avoid pitfalls when selecting an editing (computer) system. I am torn between: 1.) Mac G4, 2.) building a PC with all preferred components for DV, or, 3.) buying a pre-configured PC for DV, or Dell/Gateway steup and amend. WHAT IS THE BEST? Is building a PC a mistake? Can it become a compatibility nightmare? I hear you can almost edit out of the box with Mac. HELP!!!!
To Mac users: There is no aditional video capture card necessary for G4 DV editing (like Matrox or Canopus)?
