Re: Academic Software vs. Retail Can't Post

: Hi - is there any difference between ACADEMIC and RETAIL software? I'm looking at Premiere Pro 1.5
Adobe's academic versions are full-featured, and work exactly like the retail versions. However, they are NOT generally upgradeable. So, when version 2.0 comes out and Adobe offers a $150 price to current users to upgrade, you are outta luck.
What you have to do is decide which makes more sense in your situation...save money now, and have to pay more for another academic version later on, or pay the full price now, and be eligible for upgrade pricing.
Regards,
Doug Graham

Re: Academic... THANKS Doug [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for replying, I wasn't aware of that (the upgrade thing). 1.5 was JUST RELEASED, I might be able to live with it for a while (hehe). I do work for the school system in Boston and I'd like to save money. Some web sites (academic) also have the Video Collection (new version) for about $450 - thanks for the info, I got some things to think about :)
