Book recommendation for students- Can't Post

Recent find (library "new" books) that can work well with student productions (though published first in 2004, still excellent - lots of basic that will not date the book):
Digital Filmmaking for Teens by Pete Shaner and Gerald Everett Jones
ISBN 1-59200-603-5 available at www.courseptr.com I believe according to back cover - did not check that out though -
$24.99

Indie and student filmmakers must read these books:

  • Anything by Syd Field (especially Screenplay and The Screenwriters' Workbook, http://sydfield.com/)
  • Rick Schmidt's Feature Filmmaking at Used Car Prices (http://www.lightvideo.com/)
  • Sydney Lumet's Making Movies (http://www.amazon.com/Making-Movies-Sidney-Lumet/dp/0679756604/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234828403&sr=8-1)
  • The Five C's of Cinematography by Joseph V. Mascelli (http://www.amazon.com/Five-Cs-Cinematography-Picture-Techniques/dp/187950541X/ref=cm_lmf_tit_5)
  • Blink of an Eye by Walter Murch (http://www.amazon.com/Blink-Eye-Revised-2nd/dp/1879505622/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234828445&sr=1-2)
  • The Complete Independent Movie Marketing Handbook by Mark Steven Bosko (http://shop.mwp.com/products/the-complete-independent-movie-marketing-handbook)
  • The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide by Chris Gore (http://chrisgore.com/index.php?page_id=139).

These are just a sampling of the books out there for indie and student filmmakers.
