Converting VHS-- help needed! Can't Post

Hello there! I have a bunch of VHS tapes that I want to convert to digital video files that I can play on my computer (AVI, MPEG, it's all good). I have a Compaq laptop with an ATI Rage Mobility-M1 AGP card, which should do the trick, but I have no idea what to do from there. If anyone could help me out, I would really appreciate it!

I'm not familiar with that card, I assume that it has an analog in of some type, either RCA or S-Video. Hopefully it also came with some type of capture software. If not look on their site for some free software. Basically the software should recognize the card then you use it to capture the video. You may have to take audio in from the line-in on the laptop. This may give you some sync issues, so it may be best to capture in no more than 15 minute chunks. Good luck.
