Firewire problem with Sony DCR-PC9 Can't Post

I just connected my Sony DV-camera to the Firewire port and was expecting to find at least something to happen on my computer!!! But I dont seem to have any connection to the camera.
Can anyone please help me?

Make sure the camcorder is in "VTR" mode, not in camera mode. For some Sony camcorders, there is a menu selection to enable the Firewire as the output port. Check that, too. Finally, turn things on in this order: Camcorder, computer, video editing application.

I had a problem with my sony TRV-27. In fact I had the same problem happen on both of my cameras (both TRV-27s). After believing that it was a computer problem that was happening that my operating system or programs etc wasn't working, I took my camera in to the nearest sony camera repair shop. Turned out that it was the firewire port on the camera which was the problem. Take your camera to the nearest authorized repair shop.
First it might be worthwhile taking your computer into the computer shop and having the techs look at it there. If they can't figure it out and you've read all the forums & postings online, I'd take the camera in for repairs.
