Canon? That's good, sort of. Canon's "frame movie mode" is a 30 fps capture mode, but it's not true progressive scan. Here's a description from an article by Michael Pappas: "...the captured frames vertical resolution is increased because the two interlaced fields of a single frame capture are not scanned at separate points of time like normal 60 field video captures. The odd and even fields are simultaneously captured all at once at 1/60 of a second in the Frame Movie Mode." Here's the link to Mike's article. http://www.dvinfo.net/...rticles/article1.php. There's a ton of other Canon info, especially on the GL2's big brother, the XL1, on the host site. There's also a companion site specifically for the GL2 at http://www.dvinfo.net/canongl2/index.php The important thing in your situation is to realize that 1) frame mode is NOT progressive scan, and 2) even if it were, you're planning on viewing this on a video monitor, which is interlaced anyway (unless, of course, you plan to use an LCD TV, a computer monitor, or a projector. These devices are capable of progressive display). So it won't hurt to encode as "lower field first". Your video will still have the "movie look" that Canon's frame mode provides.
