Help finding intl. or Iraqi pen pals for video production class Can't Post

Hello,
I work for an affordable housing nonprofit in Austin, Texas that has learning centers onsite with computer labs and afterschool programs for kids and teens. I will be teaching video production classes this summer to four different groups of kids ranging in age from 10-16. Last summer, we created a narrative short that turned out great. This year, we're going to focus more on creating media literacy and some sort of documentary-style project.
We're working on short notice here because we had to wait on pending grants that finally came through. Now, I'm attempting to find some foreign pen pals for our kids to correspond with, hopefully by email and video. (Teens or older children in Iraq would be ideal, but really, any foreign country will do...) If the kids overseas do not have access to video, email alone would work.
Does anyone have any ideas? I've emailed several people I'm in touch with who live abroad and am hoping something will materialize. I know there is a program like this through IECC, but apparently it takes about a month to set up. We'd be happy to work with an informal group of kids too, it doesn't need to be through the school system.
Just thought I'd see if there were any potential leads or websites out there that might fit the bill...
thanks very much in advance,
Jennifer Marine

Scroll down on this forum and find a posting by a teacher named Steve who teaches English as a second language. He was looking for project ideas for his students. Sounds like the ideal match for you. You can e-mail him personally.
I think his posting was February 7. Good luck.
