High School TV Production Teachers looking for a textbook Can't Post

Several high school teachers on this forum know I have written a textbook in television production on the high school level. You have contacted me frequently asking when the book will be available. The title is Television Production: A Career Approach. I have a contract with Goodheart-Wilcox Company, Inc. to publish the book but the sales staff is not sure that there is much of a market for a text on the high school level. In order to put it on a fast track thru the editing and printing process so as to get it available as soon as possible, the publisher, Paul Schriner told me yesterday to have people who are interested in the text to contact him to help indicate the demand. The whole reason I wrote the text is out of frustration from not being able to find a serious text with a high school readability level. So, if you are interested in a text or just want to help me out, please contact Paul Schriner at GoodheartWilcox.com or use their toll-free number of 800-323-0440 and let them know that there is a market for the text.
If you want info on the book itself, feel free to contact me via email at phil.l.harris@fcps.edu.

It's good to see something here directly related to teaching. I've seen a draft of Phil's book and it's impressive, including excellent teacher support materials such as tests and tips on class management. I will be contacting his publisher.

There is an all encompassing text already out for high schools called Digital Overdrive. We have the interactive eBook CD-Rom complete with video samples, web links, graphic samples, etc. It is by far the best resource in this area and costs a heck of alot less than traditional texts. The company even updates it every year and charges a licensing fee. I have found it is so much better and is always current. I think the licensing fee was $300 a year for 25 computers and they even let you burn it for the kids to take home. The contract was for 5 years but at $1500, it has saved us a bundle and won't be out of date next year. The website www.digitaloverdrive.ca.
