: I have a JVC camcorder and on the back of it is a hole that says Jlip. What is this for? JLIP is a proprietary JVC deck control protocol, similar to Sony's Control L (or LANC). It's used to let an editing controller talk to one or more decks or camcorders, and control them for video editing. Because it is proprietary, the only devices that use it are also made by JVC, most notably their "Edit Desk" components. For video shooting purposes, you can ignore that jack. Regards, Doug Graham
