Loss of VCR-VCR tape quality Can't Post

Is there anything that helps preserve quality when recording from VCR to VCR (just a basic setup with all the standard connections)? Do tape speeds matter, and what is recommended? My original tapes are all in SLP. Thank you for your assistance.

I'll let some of the other guys advise you about items that might help reduce quality loss in duplication, but I will say ABSOLUTELY speed makes a difference. The two-hour speed (SP) on vhs gives highest recording quality and the six-hour speed gives the lowest quality. That slow speed is economical, cramming more programming on your tape, but you sacrifice quality when you do so. In the future, record your originals at SP, especially if you intend to duplicate them.
