I have a problem where the following programs do not detect my Sony DCR TRV 250e
Image Pixela that Sony provided

Re: My PC won't detect my DCR TRV 250e using IEEE 1394 firewire Can't Post

1. Make sure that you are connected using a Firewire (IEEE 1394) cable, NOT a USB cable.
2. Make sure that the camcorder is set to "VTR" mode, not "Camera" mode.
3. Hook up the camcorder and turn it on before turning on your computer. If you are using Windows XP, the camcorder should be detected automatically. If it is not, then:
4. Check to see if your Firewire capture card is also identified by Windows as a network adapter. If it is, disable it for this application. You can find these settings in Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager, or in Control Panel/Network connections.
5. Make sure that your Firewire capture card IS identified by Windows as a video capture device. If not, see your card manufacturer's instructions on installing and setting up your Firewire card.
