STEADICAM 2000 and Z1UHEADACHE Can't Post

Frown I've been working with my Z1U and steadicam pro 2000 for several hours, trying to get it balanced but I can't seem to do it. Everything I try just makes it worse. I've watched the DVD instructions and they make it look so effortless. Is anyone else using a steadicam with their Z1u. HELP!! IS there something I'm missing? is there anyone who has a basic description of how they balanced it. I don't have any attachments to it, just the basic camera, no onboard mic. How many weight should I use? The steadicam is very frustrating to work, but I've liked the results I've seen in demo. thanks to anyone who replies.

You mean the Glidecam 2000? I think this rig is designed for cameras lighter than the Z1U. You need the Glidecam 4000 model with the bigger cameras.

The Glidecam 2000 is "supposed" to support up to 6 pounds. I have a pd-170 on mine. 4 weights in front, 4 in back and they are pushed all the way to the outside edges. They are not easy to balance. I know people who have had theirs for months with no luck. But once it is balanced--how sweet it is!

Be sure you don't have too little or too much weight on the base.
I use a 2000 with the DVX100a (not a light cam) and had to move up to the 4000 to get the performance of the 2000 with a GL1. I do know someone using the set up you have and loves it. But, I didn't set it up for her.

Keep working at it you will get it balanced! Like Doug said, I would use the Glidecam Pro 4000 instead for the camera you are using.

You would a 4000 for that cam.
