Sony DCR TRV: Is FireWire/iLink better/faster than USB? Can't Post

I have a DCR-TRV14E. It, and other cameras in the range, offer USB and FireWire/iLink/IEEE 1394 connectors. The standard package includes a USB cable but no FireWire cable.
Should I buy a FireWire cable: is it going to offer me a faster transfer rate for movies, and will there be a difference in image quality?

I believe your camcorder has USB 1.1 and FireWire outputs.
(Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
In general, rough transfer speeds are:
USB 1.1: 12 megabits per second
FireWire: 400 mbps
USB 2.0: 480 mbps
In camcorders, USB 1.1 is commonly used to transfer still images especially if they have a memory or SD card for stills. It is also used to make the camcorder act as a webcam.
FireWire is better for transferring videos onto PCs due to its speed. Although the USB port can be used as well, in my opinion, FireWire will be better since it allows more information to travel and theoretically will give you a better quality footage.
I have attempted to put together some information on http://www.geocities.com/drtamseel/miniDV.html
