Video editing production software... Can't Post

Looking to get some information on software programs, for PC, that allow for editing and sync'ing of multiple video and mulitple audio streams that are directed to the pc. Similar to pinnacle studio, but that allows more audio and video streams. And after the editing and sync'ing, to then be burned to cd or dvd.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and preferences,
Andre

When you say "directed to the PC", do you mean a situation where you actually have several video sources and want to switch between them in real time (like a studio shoot with three cameras)? If so, then check out the Video Toaster NT, http://www.newtek.com
Or do you mean you want to capture video to the hard drive, and then edit a piece with several video and audio tracks playing simultaneously, such as a couple of picture-in-picture clips moving over a background video clip, with some titles on top of everything? If so, then pretty much any editing software such as Sony Vegas, Pinnacle Liquid Edition, or Adobe Premiere Pro will do the trick. Your real time editing and playback performance may be improved by a hardware-assisted editing system, like the Video Toaster NT (again) or the Matrox RTx.100.

You asked for info about software programs for PC but let me also suggest that you check out the Kron and/or Prestige by Casablanca. (www.casablanca.tv) This is not software. This is a proprietary system dedicated only to non-linear editing and is not a PC that would be used for other applications such as Internet or word-processing. In my school setting, I find this very desirable, but beyond that, the Casablanca systems have been very stable and allow for input/output with digital as well as analog sources with no add-on devices to convert the signal. They offer some very sophisticated editing software without requiring days of training in their use. They also include an integrated DVD writer.
You also mention multiple audio and video sources. At the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas in April, I saw Casablanca demo a new software product which will be on the market soon I'm told. I believe the name is Quad Cam and this software, as I understood, will take footage shot by four different cameras of the same event simultaneously and once the footage is in the unit the software will sync the four perfectly to allow for simple editing with the style of live switching between four sources with perfect synchronization. I think this will be such a valuable feature when doing event videography, and plan to invest in it for my school use.
Perhaps you'd like to investigate these options before buying.
Janet

For around a $1000 you can build your own P4/2.26g/1g ram/DVD Burner/Win2000Pro/20G HD/120G HD system. (that's mine). I use Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7. Transfer miniDV via firewire to computer, edit it, output back to DV or other tapes and easily burn DVD's.

Not a "professional" system like Avid, but for the money works great!
