broken camcorder Can't Post

Hello,
I have a cannon zr40 mini camcorder. The other day when I turned it on it was very dark. the screen which is normally blue is black and I can barley see the the screen that was there before. When I turn to to play it looks like it is in nightmode. When I connect it to my t.v. it doesn't reconize it. Is it possible I can fix it myself. I don't have a ton of money to spend having it repaired. I've had it just over a year. It cost me 600.00 and I don't want to spend 400.00 having it fixed. I called Cannon and they advise me to mail it to them to repair it. What shhould I do. I wish I could fix it myself but I don't know how detailed fixing a camcorder is? Please advise

No. Camcorders are full of little tiny pieces. It takes a specially trained technician with little tiny fingers to handle those pieces without losing or breaking them. There are, as they say "no user-serviceable parts inside".
Send the unit to Canon. Next time, buy the extended warranty. For small, expensive, complex items like camcorders, it's worth it.
