connecting JVC DVL600 to laptop Can't Post

my laptop dont have serial input, i connected the DV with firewire but i can not use JLIP capture/producer.what I can use instead of WIN MOVIE MAKER? I'm working with WIN XP.

I'm confused. JLIP is JVC's proprietary device control protocol. Firewire is the industry standard serial data transfer for digital video, that handles audio/viodeo data, time code, and device control. If you have a Firewire connection, you shouldn't be trying to use JLIP to control the camcorder. You should be able to capture directly from within MovieMaker.
