This is a new strage problem we have come accross shooting our football games this fall. Some of our tapes play with a "flicker" or it looks like we are missing a frame. It looks kind of like 16mm film. We are shooting on 215 cameras, and the editing on: 230 half rack decks or a lt-75 laptop editor. It has only been a problem with tapes coming from our Sideline camera.
Do you think it is the camera, the decks, or the tape. I have tried to cross check everything, but can't come up with an answer?

Make a digital copy of a tape from the sideline camera on one of your other cameras. Play it in your decks.
If the problem is visible, the culprit is most likely one or both of the decks. If the problem does not occur, the culprit is the sideline camera, or possibly some incompatibility between tapes made in that camera and the playback decks.

Skippy,
I think I know exactly what your problem is. It's happened to me with my 215's, 210's and 200's (Panasonic AJ-D's). Almost looks like drop frame or strobe effect, right? One of your kids has gotten into the menu settings on the camera. Go into menus and cursor thru the pages until you get to a setting that I'm willing to bet says "Frame". Change the setting to "Normal" and you'll be fine. Then find a suitable punishment for the kid who did it.
Good luck.
