How do I copy vcr movies to pc?
note: I use Win 98
Can you tell me if there is a good freeware to download to to it.

You'll need some hardware as well as software.
Your PC should meet these requirements: 500MHz or faster CPU, 512MB or more RAM, second 7200 rpm hard drive of at least 40GB capacity for video storage.
You'll need either an analog-to-digital converter box and a Firewire capture card, or a card like the Canopus ACEDVio which combines both functions.
If you already have a fairly powerful computer and some way to get the video into it, upgrading to Windows XP will give you a copy of the MovieMaker2 software, which provides basic editing functions.
