manual audio vx2k Can't Post

Hello, i was wondering who uses the manual audio mode on the vx2000... and how to use it well. Because i heard negative things about the manual mode, and im uncertain. I heard there was a hiss or something, and i tried it out and can hear maybe a small small difference...depending on the settings.
Another thing is that i read that there was an automatic audio gain thing that overrides the manual mode.. Is that true?
My main question is how do you record lets say an interview, in order to always hear the interviewee at the same level even if the cameraman is talking..
thank you

Yes.

Best bet, whether using manual audio gain or automatic gain control (AGC) is to NOT use the camcorder microphone. Use an external mike placed close to the interviewee...either a wireless lavalier, or a handheld mike, or a PZM "flat" tabletop microphone.
