recording from vhs to camcorder troubles Can't Post

I have a Canon MV500i video camcorder & I am trying to record from my
Samsung SV-651B VHS VCR onto the camcorder. I have followed the steps in
the instruction manual that tell you how to record from your VCR to the
camcorder, but when I try to view back (or monitor while recording) the
material I have recorded I just see a blank black screen. I am using the STV-
s50N Stereo Video Cable with a SCART adaptor. The manual says to st the TV/
VIDEO selector on the television to VIDEO. I am unsure what this means: does
this mean to have the TV on the video channel, or is there a special selector
somewhere? If anyone can give me a hand with this it would be much
apreciated!!!

Yes! I'm having the same problem only with a Sony TR7000. There isn't a switch next to the jacks to switch from Input to Output. Anyone willing to help us out, please?
