vhs tape stuck in vcr Can't Post

I have a tv/vcr combo and the tape is stuck. How can I get it out? I've tried unplugging and re-plugging the tv but it didn't work.

Susan,
I'm afraid you'll have to do some disassembly to get at the tape mechanism. If you don't feel comfortable with this, take the unit to a TV/VCR repair shop. It's generally a fairly quick and inexpensive fix.

Re: vhs tape stuck in vcr [In reply to] Can't Post

I have a TV/VCR combo and when the tape got stuck the TV wouldn't work either. (It refused to eject and would turn itself off after a few seconds.) I got the tape out by repeatedly pushing eject while manhandling the tape a bit simultaneously: Pushing up, down, back, left, right, etc. while pushing eject until something in there clicked into gear and the thing ejected. I was quite forceful in my shoving the tape around. Now that it's out (and the TV part of the TV/VCR combo is working again) I'm not going to risk putting another tape in there. (In my experience once tapes START getting stuck it just keeps getting worse til you eventually lose an important/costly tape.)
