12.6 GB in my Temp file Can't Post

Just checked the properties of this file "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp"
and found 12.6 GB of space being used. I see no need for these files. Is it safe to delete them?
Over 7GBs is inside my Sonic folder which would be temporary DVD files. I think it's safe to delete those at least. Some being over 2 years old!

Personally,
I empty that temp directory all the time and haven't had any problems occur due to cleaning it out. Just to be safe, if you open up the properties on your C drive, then pick clean up disk. It will then scan your disk for temp files and things like that. It will also give you a window that you can tell it to empty certain folders. Make sure that compress files is NOT selected. You should see the temp file folder and then select it to clean it out. Another thing that you could check is if you are running IE on that computer, I always make sure that in the Internet options I choose it to empty the IE temp directory when IE is closed. That can also get really cluttered if you do a lot of internet stuff on that system.

Good luck.

Thanks, I cleared off almost 10GBs of HD space. I do still see one file in my TEMP folder that is over 4gig. It is "MMJ21.tmp". Any idea what that file is?

I'm not sure what that is. I would guess some type of file from a media program because of the size. My guess is because it is a temp file, it should be ok to delete, but it would be safer to somehow back it up in case you need it for a current project or something.

Did you change the file extension? Try changing it to .avi, .mov, or .mpg and see if it'll open.

Thanks, Doug
I just tried changing the extension to your suggestions and even tried m2v also. Nothing will open it and most will lock the computer. The file is 4.6 gigs and is too big for the recycle bin and is too big to put to a single layer DVD. I guess I'll leave it alone for now. Maybe I'll get more suggestions.... Just thought of this... I'll move it to my external drive and leave it for a while and delete the original.

I wonder if it's a VOB file from creating a DVD project?
