You can pass the analog video through the Z1U to be captured as DV by the computer. Pretty much any late model computer will do, but if you have large amounts of video, you'll want plenty of disk storage. DV or native HDV takes up about 13-14 GB per hour of video. You can spend as little as $1,000 for the basic computer, or $5,000 (or waaay up) if you choose a multiprocessor machine. More money will get you more speed in rendering, and better handling of HDV video, if that will be your primary medium. If this is a one-time job, consider renting a 3/4" deck. If you will need access to your 3/4" archive, or plan to digitize all of it, then purchase of a deck becomes a feasible alternative. Try B&H, the vendor with a permanent sponsored link VU ad.
