Anyone using Network Storage? Can't Post

I remember JeffN was looking into Network Storage. Would one of the gigabit network storage solutions work well with DV and HDV? I mean capture and editing.

SAN or xSAN is what the big boys use for editing over a network. Gigabit isn't really robust enough to edit on one machine, files that are on another. It definitly won't work with any of the HD formats for sure. Remember you don't get a full Gigabit out of Gigabit Ethernet, you get a peice of it. I just switched from Gigabit to wireless. Yes, I know, that's sort of a step backwards in speed. But all I'd ever do was move firewire drives around. I did move files around on the network a lot. But that's moving a file, not reading and writing over the copper in real time.

I know someone who claims to do it ok, but I have a hard time believing it works without a few headaches. I spent too much time building and troubleshooting networks, so I'm pretty jaded.
