DIGITIZING BETACAM FOOTAGE THROUGH A DVcam DECK Can't Post

I plan to shoot a corporate video soon with my Betacam SP D35 camcorder. However, the editing suite where I plan to do editing has only a DVcam deck.

I know there is some quality loss doing this but I am planning to hook the camera thru the DVcam deck via S video (using the playback adapter) and digitize the footage directly into FCP. I know that the absence of time code when doing this may create some issues, however, I would like to know if any of you had any experience doing this and what kind of problems I could be facing. Would it really be better to make a DVcam dub first from the BetaSP material and then digitize it? Is there a way for Final Cut Pro to create TC if I pass through the footage using the DVcam deck IEE without making a DV dub?

The Betacam SP playback adapter, VA-500, has a frame synchronizer (same function as a TB corrector) so there shouldn't be an issue of the stability of the playback of the footage in that regard. But I am worry about skipping frames and other issues related to lack of TC after digitizing.

Your footage should have time code, even if you record direct to disc using pass-through. It just won't be the time code on the original tape. You will still have frame accurate editing.
