DVD deteriorating? Can't Post

I have authored several DVD's and they play like they are supposed to, problem is when I look at them say a year later they start out playing ok, then after about 1/2 an hour of play they start to artifact then just freeze frame.

Is this a case of the media deteriorating? It has happened to about 4 of my DVD's both verbatim and TDK DVD-R's

I can make copies of the disks and they play fine, but I suspect they will be a problem after time like the others.

Just wondered if anyone knew anything about this, it never happens to the hollywood DVD's I have.

Thanks Tom

When this happens to my DVDs, either commercially produced or DVD-Rs, it's almost always because there are smudges or fingerprints on the disc. Clean them carefully and try again.
