DV Codecs Can't Post

Ok... I'm finally starting to get somewhere in my DV Codec research...

I am going to test the Mainconcept DV Codec tonight within Premiere 6.5 and see if the results look better than using the default Microsoft DV codec. If so, problem solved... Has anyone ever tried installing and using the Avid, Pinnacle or Canopus DV codecs in Premiere, without having Avid, Pinnacle or Canopus hardware?

If anyone can help with these questions... I will appreciate it:

1) What version of the Mainconcept MPEG encoder does Vegas 4/DVDA 1 use?

2) What DV Codec does Vegas use? I think it is a Sony codec variety... but unsure.

Re: [PopeJohn] DV Codecs [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not a PC guy, but where I come from, most of the serious PC editors like ProCoder (I think from Canopus.) I hear the "express" (cheaper) version is fine for most work.
