Digital-S Video and Aliasing (i.e. the "jaggies")

I am fairly new to digital video and am having a problem with our new JVC DY-700 Digital-S Camcorder. When I dub the Digital-S to VHS format (on an SVHS JVC deck), I get quite a bit of aliasing (i.e. the "jaggies"). I do not know what one should consider an "acceptable" level of aliasing but it seems as if every curved or diagonal line of mark difference in luminance shows this effect as the camera pans or zooms. I shot some industrial equipment and then dubbed the Digital-S to VHS with a straight Y/C cable between decks. I took the VHS copy and tried to view this with an LCD projector. The results were quite poor...the jagged edges were everywhere. I then took the same tape and viewed it on a 21 inch sony monitor thinking the problem was with the LCD projector but, although the LCD does seem to magnify the problem, you could clearly see the effect on the monitor. I even have some footage shot with a loaner Digital-S camera (DY-700) used prior to purchase and, while the effect is somewhat reduced, you can still see it. Are there any adjustments normally made for digital video that I am unaware of that affect the visibility and severity of aliasing? I can understand trying to shoot stripes or fine mesh patterns but I have it on the intersection of walls and ceilings, steel rods, dust brush handles, etc.!!! HELP!
