Epson R300 Printer Can't Post

Please help! I just bought an epson R300 printer so that I could print on DVDs. It was used (looks brand new) so I did not come with the software. I downloaded the driver from epson. I think I got the correct one. My photos are printing terrible. They are purplish and grainy. I tried changing the settings according to the website troubleshooter and nothings seems to work. Does anyone else use this printer & how did you get it to print good photos?

Okay, so I just tested my printer with a webpage & it printed fine. So there is something about this printer with photos. Is it possible to scan the photo at too high a resolution?

I dont have this printer, so I cannot give you a specific answer, but it sounds like either you have a defective printer, bad ink, or bad drivers. You might try seeing if somoene will make you a copy of their driver CD and send it to you, if that does not work replace the ink with new ink. if that does not work get your money back.

Harry, thanks for the response. Last night I printed an email with pics & it printed fine. So there must be some setting with photos that I'm missing. I talked to someone who says maybe it's the paper. I used "HP" photo paper instead of "epson" photo paper. Just wondering if anyone else had these issues.

I have a rack of Epson printers (not the 300 though). I use Glossy Photo paper and Best Photo settings when printing pictures. This works for me on Canon and Kirkland photo paper.

we had an epson in the photo lab at school 2 years ago and it printed very well on Ilford Photo paper too.....it could be the paper, I never thought of that.

Well, maybe I should try other paper. But when I try to print photos on "plain" paper & the printer is set up for that, I get the same results. How do your photos print on plain paper?

Well, that's what I would have thought that it doesn't matter what kind of paper you print on, so now I'm back to square one....
