Help! crashed HD and all I have is a DVD reel Can't Post

I have dont some amazing projects for a small production company and i wanted to use them as a reel but the Lacie HD doesnt pop up on the screen and it only blinks we have tried a few computers but no luck. All we have now is a DVD put together but bringing it to the computer and recompressing will make the picture really bad.
Help!
what are my options?
can i make the dvd look any good?

Try to rescue the hard drive.

1. Remove the hard drive from the LaCie case and install it in your computer; it's possible that the problem is in the drive-to-USB or -Firewire part. If this doesn't work, then

2. Buy another IDENTICAL hard drive. Remove the electronic circuit board on the new drive and use it to replace the circuit board on the faulty drive. Now, try to install the drive in your computer.

If successful, immediately copy the contents of the drive to another location.

Don't do anything that will jeopardize your data. If you can't get the drive to work as an internal drive, I'd recommend sending the drive to a data recovery service. That last time I checked, they'll recover your data for about $50. If you purchase a new drive and swap the electronics, you'll void the warranty on both drives. That, in my opinion, is a more expensive route than employing a data recovery service.

Well, the prices I've seen for data recovery services run a LOT more than $50.

If you can get someone to do it at that price, it's a stone bargain.

I couldn't agree more. No data recovery service can offer a flat fee since no data recovery is the same. I was only able to find one company that advertised prices and the lowest was $350 for a 2-3 day recovery and you would have to question their integrity since as I mentioned who knows the damage to your drive before hand enough to claim a set turn around time and price.

Take Doug's advice(it's sound and would more than likely work) and if all that fails then seek out a professional data recovery company but beware the costs are extreme in some cases.

$50 is what I was quoted by Apple, when they were doing warranty repair on my iBook's hard drive. If the drive is on warranty, I'd at least check with the manufacturer about data recovery cost. If Apple can do it for $50, I don't see why another manufacturer wouldn't offer a similar price/service.

Good point if his lacie is still under warranty. If not then expect to spend the big bucks.
