Home repair Mini DV tape Can't Post

ShockedIt is possible to repair a broken Mini DV tape? I tried to fix it joining the two sides with adhesive tape but when I insert the cassete to the VCR it indicates
to extract it like if the format were not recognized.

Does the digital cassete looses the sequence or what happens?

I know there are a lot of places that offers that service but I would like repair it by myself.
Thanks in advance.

I've never done that to a mini-DV tape, but I have done it to VHS. If I HAD to try it, I would make sure that you have a clean cut of each end of tape. You don't want any jagged edges. Then place the two cuts together and put a little bit of tape on the backside the video tape only. Give it a little tug and see if it holds. Make a complete dub of the tape. Do a live recording from start to finish. Don't set in points or out points and definitely don't shuttle through the tape. If it copies, throw the damn thing away and master it out to a new tape.
Disclaimer: I would give this about a 20% chance of working. It also may mess up any deck or camera that you play back the tape in. Do this at your own risk.

Good luck,
