Importiing VOB's in Vegas 5.0 Can't Post

I would like to know if someone could help me out on this?
When I import VOB's into vegas from a DVD that i've already created i'm only getting the video not the audio.

Also some of my DVDs that I've created when opend on my desktop show AudioTs folders as empty or no ts folders at all why is this if the dvd works in my set top DVD player?

Thanks for the Help!!

The Audio_TS is supposed to be empty. The audio for the video is included in the VOB files.

The reason you are getting no audio on the timeline is because Vegas 5 does not import AC3 audio. You will have to use some other program to convert the audio back to WAV. You might try something like DVD2AVI or BSweet.

Vegas 6.0c added a new feature - the ability to import from a DVD - including the audio! Might be one of the many reasons to consider upgrading.

Finally an option most people overlook: Simply connect the output of the DVD player to your camera, connect the camera to the PC via firewire, and capture direct from the DVD player straight to a DV-AVI file. The DV-AVI file is much better for editing than the MPEG2 in the VOB files anyway. It's definitely a viable option (and one I've used many times).

Yes, that will pull it in as MPEG. Many people prefer to do it this way. Me... I'm partial to doing it your way - do an analog conversion through my deck and capture as standard DV-AVI. Seems a much simpler workflow without all the problems associated with MPEG2 (to me.) However, Vegas WILL import straight from the DVD now.

I believe most are straight editing the MPEG2. You will potentially have the problems you mentioned and the preview framerate will be lower.
