JVC KY27BU Info Needed

Anyone who has information...it will be very appreciated! I am shooting with a KY27BU docked with a BRDV10. My problem lies in the cameras filter wheel. There may be a problem...or it could be operator error. I bought the camera used, so do not have a manual. I am not an experienced shooter. I don't shoot frequently. I have shot both indoors & outdoors successfully with this camera. There are 4 settings: 1-3800K 2-5600K 3-5600K-ND & 4-Effect (Star Filter). The selector is mounted on the front of the camera and also borders the left side of the body. There are two parts to the wheel that selects the filter setting. A larger outer (like a thumb wheel with the number of the settings imprinted on the outer edge) and a smaller center knob with no markings or indents. Both will turn if just the outer wheel is operated...but the smaller can be turned independently. I find this confusing. Also there is no positive "click" when the wheel is set, except for a kind of a physical feel for neutral density & effect. I'm assuming (when looking at the left side of the housing straight on) and having the larger wheel rotated so the number 1 is visible from the side...that I now have it set for indoor shooting, and ditto for the other settings. From what I can tell...there is a physical glass filter for both neutral density and the star filter. They can be seen going past the view finder and a slight "clunk" can be heard when they reach position. Here is an update to the above problem. The gear inside the filter wheel assembly is stripped. Does anyone know if the entire filter assembly can be replaced in the field? (I was just able to verify the source of the problem this weekend and will put a call to JVC this next week.) By the way...the thumb wheel is one solid piece. The confusion as to whether the inner and outer portions functioned separately was because of the sloppy feel in the action when turned.
