New laptop Can't Post

Hi folks!

I'm looking to pick up a new Dell dual core laptop.

Anybody have any experience with dual core chips and can sort of quantify the increased performance (if any). I'm looking at the dual core 1.66Ghz. Would this give me enough power to edit (PPRO 2.0) or do I need to pick up a 2.0Ghz dual core?

Thanks,
Jordan

Re: [Jordan] New laptop [In reply to] Can't Post

I set up a new dell dual core laptop at 1.66Ghz 2 days ago for a collegue. To be honest I was expecting it to be a bit snappier and responsive, but I think it might have only had 256 RAM. I would personally go for the 2.0Ghz, I mean the 1.66 would do it, but would probably drive me crazy with impatience. Good luck.

Yeah go the dual and also I think Dell offers the 256MB Nvidia video card for some of the models, ditch the onboard shared memory video..

To add to the others comments I would also not get any less than 2 gig of RAM.

It is always best to find the best price point for the CPU's.

I would go at least a 1.83 ans maybe even a 2.0.

The 2.13's were a big jump in cost when I bought mine.
