Shooting a commercial gig with welding flashes..... Can't Post

I was just wondering if I should be concerned at all in terms of protection for my eyes thru the viewfinder or for my camera and its lens?

I dont think there should be a problem but was wondering if anyone knew something else?

thanks

You are safe when viewing welding through the viewfinder. CCDs are not affected like the old tube cameras were. You could burn the old tubes with steady bright light sources.

You still need to keep your distance though. It's not just an issue of brightness. Welders also produce a huge amount of RF (Radio frequency) energy. Without a welding mask your eyes can get burned, even if you are not looking directly at the flashes. ...seen it happen.

Ouch! Ya, nothing like a little blindness to ruin a videographer. ...well I suppose it might help a few of them. ...JUST KIDDING!
