Should I have two tracs? Can't Post

Im using a Sony PD170 and recording the sound with the mounted mic and a wireless mic. Both mics are picking up and recording on two separate tracks (I think). When I dump the footage to my computer and open it up in Adobe Premiere Elements I only see on audio track. Shouldn't I be able to choose which track I want to use. Thanks

You must seperate the input signal of the 2 sources. On the side of the camera opposite of the mic inputs there are some switchs. The first one is CH1/2 at the top and CH1 on the bottom.
Push the switch to the bottom-that will bring the signal from the shotgun mic to channel 1 and the signal from the wireless that is plugged into the channel 2 input will go to channel 2 so when you capture the footage you will have 1 audio track with 2 different signals.

Besides Don's comments on setting up the camera correctly, there's also your NLE to consider.

I'm not familiar with Premiere Elements, but many NLE's will treat the two audio tracks captured with your video as a stereo track.

You can separate them out by copying and pasting the audio track. If I recall from Premiere 6, if you right click an audio track, you will get the options to use "left channel only", "right channel only", etc. If Elements doesn't do this, you can still pan one track all the way left and the other all the way right.
