I cleaned the heads with a standard cleaning tape and still nothing.. Is the camera's sensors toast? Camera is getting old but has been a workhorse for me. This does give me an excuse to buy a HD camera now . But what is causing this? HELP

That was a major head clog, dude. That recording is toast.
Since you cleaned the heads, try making a new recording on another tape. If it plays ok, problem solved. If the problem remains, it time for that NEW HD RECORDER!
I back up all important video I shoot at wedding to my firestores because of this very problem. The camera won't always tell you that there is a problem and you won't find out until you are reviewing the footage. The firestore will record a perfect copy even if you camera is doing what you see in your clip. It's big and bulky and I don't use it for my family videos but it sure has saved me doing weddings.

I have always wondered if it worked that way with the firestores (I use them also). Just never had the bad luck to have a tape/camera problem (yet). I just put the tapes in a bag, throw them in a drawer, and cut/paste the video from the firestore to my editing machine. ---------- Free men do not ask permission to bear arms. ...

Doesn't look like a head clog to me, as it alternates between between the 2 heads, back and forth. Head clogs do not do that. Looks more like a electronics issue rather than mechanical - head clog.
