batteries... drain or not? Can't Post

will removing batteries from things like microphones and wireless transmitters help the battery life?
Do these devices draw power when not turned on?

Just curious.
Cheers!

Depends on what type of switch it is. Many small, uncomplicated devices, like a microphone, the switch is an actual on off switch. Many others, like your camera, the switch only wakes the unit up from 'sleep' and when the cam is ‘sleeping it still has one eye open using a small amount of power. A fairly good way to tell is if the device turns on and off instantly when you throw the switch probably it is an actual ‘switch’ but if it goes through a ‘power down’ sequence it is not an actual ‘switch’ and will continue to draw a small amount of power.
The safest way is to remove all batts if the unit is not going to see any use for several weeks. Alkalines often do leak acid when fully discharged – by time or useage.

I leave the batts in my mics. Sometimes to my regret, because about half the time I forget to turn them off after the shoot.

I always take the batts OFF the camera...as Bob says, it has a clock and memory that continue to draw power.
