recording DVD to mini DV Can't Post

Is it possible to record a DVD (non copyrighted) to mini DV tape with no loss of quality? I've posed this question to many and we're all scratching our heads. Crazy Any suggestions out there? Thanks!

Just hook up the DVD player to your camera/deck and record just like you would in converting a VHS. I usually just use the pass-thru ability of my deck and capture straight to the computer bypassing the tape altogether.

Thanks Edward! ...But I've never seen a DVD player with a DV output. Does such a thing exist? I'm afraid that composite video/audio or even S-video/optical sound would lose quality since both are analog connections. These DVDs are mostly music and meant for a museum. I really need digital here - but I know I must be missing something obvious. Surely there is a way to duplicate the info from a DVD onto DV tape without ripping it to a computer. Isn't there?Crazy

You do understand that DVD is well below DV in quality already, don't you? The extreme compression to MEPG is not recoverable going back up to DV. There have been a few DVD player/recorders with DV output. I had a Pioneer that did, it was nice but it had record problems.

I have seen this unit online and like it also. I decided to fold and hire a company in Louisville KY to transfer my DVDs to mini DV. I need some higher-end software. Thanks to all who replied.

You should be able to do this with a DVD Recorder with a firewire output, such as the Pioneer 510,
