recording from vcr to vcr Can't Post

Hi...
I need help recording movies and videos from one vcr to another vcr. I've tried combos of vcrs and cables and can't get it to work. One vcr is a RCA and one is a Quasar. Neither have instruction manuals with them. Can anyone help me?
thanks!!

Re: recording from vcr to vcr Can't Post

Signal should be:
VCR 1: Video out to VCR 2
Audio out to VCR 2
VCR 2: Video in from VCR 1
Audio in from VCR 1
That's pretty straightforward. You might have to use an "extension" setting on the vcr's, as my Mitsubishi has to be in extension mode in order to send the signal to VCR 2. They both have to be set to the same channel (ch 3 or 4) and then you play and record from one to the other. I have had to figure it out myself, as I had problems finding the right configuration to get this to work. I use a Mitsubishi and a Sharp (vcr's) and the Mitsubishi, or VCR 1, has to be in "extension" or EXT mode to send the signal correctly. This is the only way I have gotten it to work.

Video Shells (Color) [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi there! Does anyone know of a place where I can buy the video tape housing (shells) in either black or in colors? I know of one place (http://www.tmcusa.com/) but I was wondering if any other companies (sites) were selling them, thanks, bye :)

: Hi...
I have a problem in recording vcr to vcr. The recording and playback vcrs will tape off the tv set well. Trying to play a commercial tape on one and taping to the other results in picture breaking and solid blue while playing back even when the master tape plays well on the first vcr. Have tried it in vaious combinations with 3 vcrs and all have the same sort of inconsistent behaviour. I first thought there was some protection scheme but have sort of ruled that out.
Thanks in advance for any clues.

Nope, it's copy protection, all right.
Why are you trying to copy a commercial tape? Shame on you!

Now now......let's not harp on people :)
It may be a copy protect thing (or maybe it's something else). It is LEGAL to copy a commercial video for home use......it is OK to rent a tape, copy it and watch it later. To clear up the copy gaurd, you can purchase a video clarifier at Best Buy for $50. It works with composite jacks and SVHS! Bye :)

Thank you. My wife likes to rent lots of movies but wants to tape them and watch them later, maybe weeks later, if ever.
I am going to try something. I will tape off the tv or my video camera which I know works good. Then I will copy to the other vcr. I think I tried this before with success but will do again.

Re: recording from vcr to vcr [In reply to] Can't Post

I just bought 2 Magnavox VRA633ATs and I can no longer record most rented video tapes - blue screen, etc. A supervisor at Magnavox told me all the new vcr's are that way. (Coincidentally the new Magnavoxes and most others will not record at the medium speed anymore either). Someone mentioned a video enhancer, which I got but did not help. Another suggested blocking a silver strip on the vcr cassette, which there is none. I got 2 movies today, both look identical, one I could record, the other not. If recording for private use is okay, why the block? How do I defeat it?

I have two new vcr's-one a Sharp and the other a Panasonic. How do I hook them up cable wise to play one to the t.v. and the other to record from the t.v. Need back panel diagram of cable locations from t.v. to both vcr's.
Can I record rented movies for home usage this way.

It is illegal and my friend got busted. I think he used a Scart to Scart lead. Pressed play on one and record on the other making sure the receiver was on audio video.

What are your ordering requirements? Our company custom loads cassettes and orders black V-0s by the container.

Re: recording from vcr to vcr the easy way. [In reply to] Can't Post

I think the easiest way to record vcr to vcr is thus:
You have your normal vcr with one cable in and one out to the telly. Bring the Alien vcr into the mix by taking your cable out of the cable socket in the wall and plugging it in the "vid OUT" in the alien vcr. Play on the alien vcr and record on your normal vcr.
I do it this way because I find that usually the "alien" is the worse VCR and it plays better than it records.
