usb hard drives won't open automatically Can't Post

Hi

I hope I can explain my problem correctly.

Using any of our PCs, we used to be able to attach a pen drive or external drive and when we doubled-clicked on it in My Computer it would automatically open the drive so we could browse the contents. Now it doesn't. Instead, it asks what program we want to use to open the files. We've checked the properties of the drives in AutoPlay and changed it to varying degrees but it still wants to open with a program. We swap drives a lot and it is becoming increasingly annoying. There is always a mixture of music, pictures, video, documents, etc. on the drives. This is happening in every single computer we own.

Can anyone help?

thanks.
