what to buy Can't Post

This summer I will travel with a musical group, they want the capability to record, make minor edits and then post on either a website or your tube small clips of the 30 day tour.

I will shoot with a pd170,

So I am looking for hardware/software to do this with, remember no fancy editng, simple cuts

What would you use?

laptop brand model
software

Thanks to all

If you have the budget, I would opt for the mac. We use that with final cut pro on all our sde's and works like a champ. Never had one issue. If you wanted to do basic stuff, you could probably get away with imovie which comes free (i think) with most macs.

If you were going with the PC, I love Julies term PEE CEE (I'm going to start using that term) I would go with Vegas as you would have a great support team here and I think its a lot cheaper.

For computers, you could get away with a the cheapest mac book (you don't need pro) and your good to go.

For the PEE CEE, someone else would need to chime in.

For portables I like Toshiba. About the cheapest up here in Ontario the local store has a Satellite A100-VA1 for $740 (about $600US)

Celeron M 430 / 1.73 GHz - 1GB RAM, 80GB HD, DVD-RW/DVD-RAM - 802.11b/g Wireless - Vista Home Basic - 15.4" Widescreen TFT 1280 x 800 ( WXGA )

Only problem is I've never used Vista and don't know if it comes with the free Movie Maker editing software. That's all you'd need for that job.
