Snorkel video Can't Post

My wife & I have found we absolutely love snorkeling. We'd like to take some video footage on our next trip with our PD 150. First is it possible to take footage while snorkeling. We 're concerned that the camera and housing may wiegh us down in the water. I thought if this was the case, maybe we could buoy the camera somehow, but we're just not familiar at all with bringing cameras in the water and what depth they neutralize at. Also any suggestions on a decent housing.
Thanks in advance,
John

Re: Snorkel video Can't Post

Hi,
I think your best bet would be a housing from EWA Marine, not too sure of their web site address. Its basically a plastic casing with in built gloves that allow complete access to the camera controls. Unless youŽre freediving down to in excess of 15 feet you should be fine. The only weight concern is that of the actual camera. If you are wearing anykind of buoyancy aid that should then become neglible.
Hope this helps.

Re: Snorkel video [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Mark,
The wieght of the camera is a concern. I don't want to be fighting the weight of the camera in the water. Do you know if there's a place on the housing to attach a float device to?

Thanks Mark,
I looked at the ewa online. Looks like it might do the trick.

Hi Maureen,
Most underwater housings are just that, underwater housings. YouŽll find as you go on to film more and more that you will come across times when you may want to attach some piece of equipment or another. RnD is an ongoing hobby that goes hand in hand with taking video underwater. IŽm sure by looking carefully at the housing, casing, that you will be able to find a sollution to your buoyancy concerns. How about some polystyrene inside the splash bag. Takes up a little space and offers great flotability!

All the best and sorry for the late reply.

Mark.
