no question - FORCE FINS - short, manueverable, great for sculling, easy to pack... hands down... FORCE FINS.


(yes, i know i just opened a can of worms.....)

Look for ones with good propulsion that will enable you to easily hover and trim you position with little effort. In other words, stay away from split fins.

I prefer Mares Plana Avanti. I use the model with 3 rubber flutes which I reckon are pretty much as good as the much more expensive "QUATTRO" which has 4 flutes. Not sure if they still make the 3-flute model with an open back though.

Personally, I am happy with my scuba pro split fins. I really do not think that there is a Best fin, just a fin type that you are comfortable with-

I have split-fins (Scubapro Twinjets) and I like them a lot; very smooth motion so very little flutter on the video. I agree, though, that it's whatever you like. Force Fins do have the quality of maneuverability; sharper turning radius, I suspect.
