I used to have a bell and howell super8mm projector in the 80s and what I did to transfer to VHS was to setup the projector and my VHS camera side by side. The videocam captures the image projected onto a white board. I guess that was the only way that time. How is it done now ?

Katch Video uses the projection system by Movie Stuff. Kathy and Chuck are members of VU and I know that Kathy has been accepting orders from all over the place. You might just want to drop her an email.

What about developing regular 8mm film? Is there a cheap reliable place?

Re: [Darrell Aubert] 8mm to DVD transfer [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't know if there cheap, but Rusty has recommended Dwayne's Photo for buying and developing film. I have bought film from them but have not had it processed yet. Dwayne's also had an eBay store and it seemed like the prices thru eBay were better than thru the website. I don't think they do digitial transfers.

Pro 8 does digital transfers and will sell film with the digital transer fee included in the price. I think Kristen* may use them. I know they had a right up about her in a newsletter I got a while back.

Another option if you already have the film processed but just need it transferred to digital is Yes Video. They are the company that handles digital transfers for Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and many other retail stores. You can create a Videographer account with them and get discounted rates. I have used Yes Video before to have a box of super 8 films reels transferred straight to DVD and they did a good job.
