AAA rules are up... Limits finally applied Can't Post

Well, it seems 4ever group finally listened to the people and decided to limit the number of submissions per category this year. A studio is only allowed to submit two entries per category. It's nice to have an organization that actually listens to it's members.

It was not my intention to (A) start WWIII or (B) trash WEVA. I'm simply glad that I was able to speak directly with the decision makers here and they listened. Sorry if you took that to mean that WEVA doesn't listen.

I didn't see this as a dig at WEVA. There are lots of organizations that don't listen to it's members. I think David has an overactive imagination. I think for a videographer this is a good thing but maybe was not applied properly to this thread. Wink

If you have some say in things with 4EG, tell them that they owe me money....and, almost two months later, still no replies. Steve W. is well aware of this, too.

They did...I just got the email the the weva cea and you can only enter 2 per cat.... also, you can't enter different parts of the same wedding to different cats... kinda lame in my opinion... You work all year and get that one or 2 great couple and you only get to enter in 2 cats...

When did that start David?

I always found WEVA to be pretty unresponsive to individual input.

I'm not talking about those such as yourself that have been doing seminars for decades as you guys are their bread and butter, but the rank and file members who just pay the dues each year and attend meets.

If you think they have improved here that is good to hear.

People, let's not rehash the organizational 4EVER/WEVA bashing again.
This gets so tiring...
almost as tiring as MAC vs. PC
Chevy vs. Ford
Coke vs. Pepsi

It's no comparison...
MAC, FORD, Coke. Wink

shall I go on.

Respectfully Michael, my statement has nothing to do with the WEVA/4EG split which I agree is water over the damn and not worth talking about.

It also is not a comparison between the two.

My statement is a stand alone fact of personal experience.

I was a WEVA member since close to it's inception and never found it responsive to individual input from me or any of the many videographers I know.

If it has improved since I gave up on it several years ago, kudos for whatever reason shook the tree.

I like the new rules (no more than 2 entries per category) and the NEW CATEGORY... TRAILERS!
But the rules enable it so that those (I'll not name names) can enter a highlight video well after the wedding was shot. How many "trailers" have we seen that are nothing more than a highlight video?

I'll finally be entering something this year.

Tim this wasn't directed simply at you but everyone.
Including David who got the ball rolling by bringing up WEVA in the first place. It wasn't directed as a slam in any way. but simply by bringing WEVA up in a 4EVE thread, as bound to get an argument going in some way.

Just the nature of the beast I guess. When someone brings up that so in so does this, someone else has to stand up and say well so and so does this too.
Then someone says, not they don't, then yes they do and so on. It happens all of the time here and everywhere.

Kind of funny actually, as a lot of us (myself included) sound like elementary school kids with some of the discussions are hashed out. Smile

That is a hillarious or ironic mispell or slip of the lip, but it works both ways I figure. Cool

I know Michael and I agree and agreed with you regarding the them versus us thread and the immediate defensiveness that goes with the territory.

However, I did not want my statement to be misconstrued or lost as I feel if WEVA has actually become responsive to more than their seminar host bread winners it's news worth knowing about.

Can some please explain to me why submissions to 4eva have to be made as minidv tapes..? Why not DVDs?

there's also a pretty big typo on the 4eva pdf....category 17 says memorial video...should be freestyle..? 15 is already memorial...

Thanks,
Scott
